What Your Symptoms May Be Trying to Tell You. What if your symptoms are not your body failing you, but your body trying to get your attention?

In this episode of Connect Inspire Create, I’m joined by Beth Mielbrecht for a thoughtful conversation about women’s health, body trust, and learning to listen to the signals our bodies are sending.

So many women are told that everything looks normal, even when they still feel tired, anxious, achy, inflamed, or simply not like themselves. Beth invites us to look at symptoms differently. Not as something to fight, but as communication we can learn from.

We explore how practical health habits and energetic healing can work together, including bioenergetic testing, food-first support, sleep, movement, emotional stress, and the importance of noticing patterns before pushing through.

This conversation is an invitation to slow down, get curious, and begin rebuilding trust with your body one small step at a time.

If you’ve been feeling off and wondering what your body is trying to tell you, this episode will give you a gentle place to begin.

Why The Body Speaks Up

Carol Clegg

My guest today shares why our bodies may actually be communicating important information rather than working against us. Joining me today is Beth Milbrecht, a health detective and precision healing expert who helps women move beyond confusion and trial and error when it comes to their health. With a background that uniquely blends engineering precision with bioenergetic testing, homeopathy, and energy healing, Beth helps clients uncover hidden imbalances that traditional approaches often miss. Her work centers around a powerful idea that the body wants to heal when we learn how to listen and respond to what it's communicating. Welcome to Connect, Inspire, Create, a podcast exploring meaningful conversations about life, work, creativity, and the ways we can grow. Let's slow down the conversation just enough to notice what inspires us and how those insights can help shape what we create in our lives. These conversations go beyond just business strategies. We explore living with intention and self-trust, alternative ways of thinking and being, creativity, purpose, and personal growth, and navigating transitions in work and life. And I am Carol Clegg, your host, an accountability and mental fitness coach, inviting my guests from around the world with a wide range of backgrounds to share insights on how they live, think, and navigate the wonderful challenges of just being a human being. So welcome back and thank you for joining me today. Hi, Carol.

SPEAKER_00

I'm so happy to be here.

Joy, Nature, And Getting Present

Carol Clegg

I am so excited to explore and dive into what you can share with us because this is all brand new to me. So I am going to be learning along with my listeners. But before we dive into your work, can I give listeners just a glimpse of Beth behind the bio and ask you if we were sitting together over coffee and I ask you, what lights you up outside of your work? What would come to your mind first? What you would you want to share about? What just brings you joy?

SPEAKER_00

What brings me joy right now is being outside, soaking in the sun, walking on a trail with my dog, and just being away from screens, away from technology for a little while. I know that's how we're talking right now. And it's so wonderful, but yet to just get away from that, moving my body and just breathing in that air. It's a full sensory experience. And it's the best way I know to be fully present and totally lit up. It's my favorite thing to do.

Carol Clegg

And I could not agree with you more. I could just almost sort of sense that feeling. It is so important to reset our bodies and move. And we don't realize what a gift that is when we do, as you say, sit still and we're in front of computers and on phones all the time. But and I'm grateful because that's exactly how you and I could have this conversation. Otherwise, we'd have to be together. But there's also a beauty in the old-fashioned way of doing those podcasts when people used to meet in person. So, but it's not always practical.

Engineering Meets Reiki

Carol Clegg

You have a really interesting combination of engineering and healing modalities. How do these two worlds come together for you?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Well, I'm a mechanical engineer for 35 years, and I want you to know that mechanical engineers are your practical problem-solving engineers. We're the ones that build your cars and make sure you have heating and air conditioning. It's really fundamental and practical. Not that the other engineering disciplines aren't, they are as well. But a mechanical engineer is hands-on. It's not theoretical, it has to be built. You have to see it, you have to make it function. And my dad was a mechanical engineer. That's one reason why I knew, like, oh, this is fascinating. This is what I want to do. And I was firmly down that path of what is real is right in front of me. And that's what I know. And I was very, very good at that. And then my son was born. And as children do, they have a way of changing your whole life. They turn everything you know upside down. And from my son, I had an experience of being connected to him. And that was through my hands, even though we were no longer touching. So I was a new mom, and he was sleeping, just a few weeks old. And so I have my infant son in my hands and I walk him down the hallway. He's sleeping. And I am so thrilled because I feel like I'm a brilliant mother. He is sleeping. I can put him down. I don't have to hold him anymore. And I lay him down. And then I walk away out of the room and down the hallway. And for some reason, my hands are up and I'm walking away like, oh, this is he's perfect. He's beautiful. This is wonderful. And he's sleeping. And I could feel steel cables between my hands and his little body. I had never experienced anything like that before. And as the universe will have it, is that when things, when it's time for you to learn something, it all comes in at once. And within a few days, I drove by the little massage studio down the street, and they hung a sign up that says, now offering Reiki. And my husband was watching television. He said, and he was going through the channel and said, Oh, this looks interesting, all about energy healing. Like it was just coming at me. And so I took a class to learn what was this. And I learned that we all have this. And I realized how much we are all energy. And so that first teacher wasn't my teacher, but I did go on and I became a Reiki master teacher. And my firm intention was just to use it to take care of my son and my husband. Just take care of my family.

Carol Clegg

Isn't that the way we often start? Is with the need for ourselves. And then it becomes this beautiful gift that you end up giving to others.

SPEAKER_00

Totally, totally. So I raised my family as a homeopath, taking care of my family as looking to homeopathics and with hands-on healing.

Carol Clegg

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

So for many, for decades, I just did both. And both of them fit in my frame of reference, my knowledge, very easily. And over time I began to see that how much the same they really are. One of the first classes a mechanical engineer takes is electricity and magnetism. What are we working with? With energy is electricity and magnetism.

Carol Clegg

Wow, that is just such a beautiful story. And I just love how you shared how the universe plays things, and then it sort of unfolded, and then you moved into that.

Symptoms As Signals Not Failure

Carol Clegg

So I know that you talk often about listening to your body, and you often say the symptoms are communication rather than failure. So what do you think most women's bodies are trying to tell them? And why do you think so many women have stopped trusting their own bodies?

SPEAKER_00

Well, we have a body, and it's really how we're designed to live, but we have outsourced everything to someone else. We think that somebody else must know more than we do. But I don't that's not totally true because inside there is a knowing. And when we feel something that doesn't feel right, whether it's a simple headache or muscle pain or just a feeling in your stomach that something's not right, when you listen to that, you get to your truth that is right for you. And when you go outside and ask someone else what you think is happening, you're going to get a generic response. And it might work, it might be the right thing, or not. And so what women's bodies are telling them is slow down. Stop and ask. Ask what it means.

Carol Clegg

I love that because I was going to say, we keep, you know, we push through symptoms and we just think, oh, this is either part of a season in life, part of middle age, part of whatever. And as you say, instead of just slowing down, taking a moment, and to me, I almost hear the word sort of get curious about what one's own body, because yes, the generic response it will get, you know, how many times do we get told by somebody everything looks normal? Everything's there's there's no there's no, you know, nothing. So but hang on a minute, you go, I'm not feeling well. I I know that I'm not 100%. What kind of when we we'd look like that and we're not listening and we're not slowing down, you know, how does that what impact do you feel that that has that women need to be aware of, that impact on us emotionally and mentally?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it builds up over time. And so when I work with women, there are sometimes nutritional deficiencies. So you can fix that with food.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

There are environmental toxins, so you can fix that with practices such as sweating or movement. There are things that you can do, there's your current level of stress, and then there's old stress, those old trapped emotions. So every time you keep ignoring, you are saying to your body, I'm going to suppress what you're saying, I'm going to silence you. But symptoms aren't, they don't sabotage, they're signaling. And when you practice saying, Well, what is underneath that feeling I have, that hip joint or that headache, because it is unique to you, and it's a combination of all of those things. Sure, you could be dehydrated, sure you might have taken a fall, so something doesn't feel right. But really, there is stress that lives in our bodies, and you know that, and you're feeling that. Just because it doesn't show up on the lab test doesn't mean it's not real. Those emotions are living in our bodies, they're not just in our brains somewhere.

Carol Clegg

They're not a thought. Yes. Yeah, they're not a yourself. It's your trying to, I love what you you know, you're saying, just to to slow down and reconnect and explore. And I guess this is where it's gonna tie me into something that I know very little about, and I can't wait to hear more, is shifting into bioenergics.

Bioenergetic Testing Explained Clearly

Carol Clegg

Am I pronouncing that correctly? Yes, bioenergetics, and the supplemental supplement spiral, you know. And so for listeners and myself being unfamiliar with bioenergetic testing, could you explain to us what that is all about?

SPEAKER_00

Sure. Yes. So in the UK and Europe, bioenergetics is called bioresonance. And in the in North America, it's called bioenergetic. I did not make up the names. It is also a form of muscle testing. So if you've ever gone to someone who does applied kinesiology and is checking, and they're checking it usually when you do it in person with someone, you would hold out your arm and the practitioner would put their fingers on and say, Okay, your name is Beth, and my arm would be straight, or they would say, Your name is Louise, and my arm would that's a big exaggeration, would have a slight. So that is your body knows what's right and wrong. You can do this yourself with a sway test. You can, if it is yes and I'm standing, do I move forward? Do I feel pulled to it? Or do I immediately kind of back away? You might not have a big sway like a pendulum, but that is one way of knowing yes and no. So that is the analog version. So you can do that analog version remotely. So I could muscle test you using my fingers. There's many different ways to do it, so I could connect with you, and I could use my own body as for you. Now, with those methods, I still need to be clear so that I don't have my biases getting in the way of like, oh, I think Carol has something going on with her shoulder. That's what it is. Or, you know, I could still have well good intentions, but misunderstand the signals. And it's limited by how fast I can think of the questions and test. Now there is a form that is digital. And as a mechanical engineer, I like to be objective. If I'm going to figure something out, I don't want any biases, I want a good controlled system. So I have lab grade equipment and it is sending text messages to your body. And then it is receiving your response. And it receives those responses in homeopathic dilutions, which makes sense for me. So all of this is controlled by computer software. It is objective, it goes fast. I it is so customizable that everything I've ever learned, I can customize and create custom tests. I can test your supplements, I can test foods that you're concerned about, as well as everything else that I normally do. So that's what bioenergetic testing is. It's the grown-up digital cousin of in-person muscle testing.

Carol Clegg

Wonderful. And now I know that you have you've created a system around this, have you not, for your clients. Can you tell me more about

The Precision Healing Method

Carol Clegg

that?

SPEAKER_00

Well, what I do is is I you mentioned supplement spiral and before, and and and people get so hooked into I should be taking the supplements. I need vitamin D, I need B12, I need all these things. And yes, you do, but from food. But from food, and and if and sometimes you might be deficient, so you might need a supplement, and that would be supplemental for a short period of time, right?

Carol Clegg

Not for the rest of your life. Right, right, and not instead of. I love what you said. It's we can get it in food, so it's not instead of out of the bubble.

SPEAKER_00

So part of my system that I created, the precision healing method, looks at everything I know. I packaged it together. And so I am using bioenergetic testing to ask questions, and then I'm using naturopathic principles and practices because you also need to know how to move your body and what things would be helpful to you. And I'm using homeopathics. So I create custom homeopathic remedies based on exactly what you need, and I put them in a box and I mail them to you. And do I also do trapped emotion release? So we go back and we look at those old stressors that maybe you didn't have time to process, or it was just you were too young. And when those are ready to come up, I go into, I call it Reiki mode, and I use that to help help remove them. So all of those things. And I combine that with one-on-one coaching because it's great to have, as you are an accountability coach, it's important to have a place, a forum for questions and follow-through.

unknown

Yeah.

Carol Clegg

And support. I mean, it's it's you know, you might want to venture into something that you're discovering and then to journey on your own. How beautiful to have somebody, you know, who understands the concept. And then as you say, we're gonna have questions along the way that you're able to ask that. So I know let's as we move into so supplemental supplement spiral. I love the fact that we've touched on that and remind reminding people to look into their foods and what they're eating.

Sleep, Aches, And Emotional Stress

Carol Clegg

What are some simple ways people can begin just supporting their own bodies healing and listening without feeling overwhelmed?

SPEAKER_00

The first way is to look at your sleep. Are you sleeping? You know, we wake up once in a while, and some people get so distressed. And honestly, it's okay if you wake up. And so I want to give you permission. If you wake up, don't look at the clock, take it to me. I need to listen to you.

Carol Clegg

Don't start counting the hours. Oh my goodness, right.

SPEAKER_00

And breathe and say, Well, I'm just going to uh if I can't sleep, I'm just going to lay here with my eyes closed and and do my in-bed meditation. And that just take the pressure off. Take the pressure off. There's many things you can do to improve your sleep, but the first thing is to stop stressing about it.

Carol Clegg

Right. Yeah. Give yourself permission because you know, I've I find one of the things that I try to, because I'm terrible at the moment. I've gone through a cycle where I think I'm waking four or five times and it's been like that for a couple of months. But telling myself that I'm safe, and just using those words, you're safe, you're safe, and saying that over again, and then breathing, as you say, and just going, and I've heard that before, don't look at the clock. Because looking at the clock, can you go, oh my goodness, I've only got an hour left. Then why bother to try and go back to sleep? As opposed to if I've got no idea what the time is, and just the breathing and the counting. One of the things I discovered recently, which was quite interesting, was counting backwards. Yes. And that sort of takes the you know, because your course your mind is planning the next day, and it's all the things and all the things of the next week and the next month and everything else that lands on your plane. And so I've started trying this counting backwards, and it's quite fascinating. It actually has been working.

SPEAKER_00

So yes, counting backwards from a high number, like a hundred. Yes, yes, not yes, not from ten, but um something that you have to think about because so so. If the sleep isn't right, then then then that's something to pay attention to. So when you're awake and it's daytime, then there's a whole lot I could talk about on sleep. And the second thing is that during the day, if you are moving around and you feel achy, you feel stiff, you don't feel like you're moving as well as you should. Don't ignore that. Don't ignore that. Is there is there something that's tight? Do you need to get up and move around more? Do you can you take care of it yourself? Do you need to see someone on your health team, someone who can do hands-on bodywork of some kind? What will help you? So I tell you that ignoring sleep issues and ignoring daytime aches and pains, they've seldom improve by themselves.

Carol Clegg

They want you to hear them. They want you to listen. So I know that you talk about when and it's kind of is this this physical and emotional healing are connected. What have you what would you say that you've observed in your clients when they get that connection?

SPEAKER_00

Things really change. So for some people, they come to me because there's a physical problem first, and the emotional support just comes right along with it, and that makes everything go smoother. Other people come to me with emotional issues starting, and you know, there's anger, there's sadness, things like that. And then they realize how that much their body begins to move because their body is able to not hold on to that anymore. Their digestion improves. So both things happen together. All of my clients have emotional needs. Not one have I said, Well, wow, there's nothing that came up. You are perfectly. You are, you know, we are all dealing with a crazy, crazy world. And we need support in that way. Some people, it's more significant than in others, depending on how you're wired and your history. But everyone needs emotional support. And the way I do it doesn't require you to go through a talk therapy like experience, because I'm asking your body, what do you need? And homeopathics, black flower essences, those all of the wonderful signatures of colors and tones, they find it and they provide support to you.

Carol Clegg

Yeah, that you're tying and you're pulling in myself, ourselves into the situation as opposed to being told. Yes, this is what, yeah. This has really been such a thoughtful and a really grinding conversation. And it's just so much interest in it. And I think many listeners are going to walk away feeling just a little curious and hopefully just a little more compassionate towards themselves instead of constantly feeling that they have to fight what they are feeling at war with their

The Quiz, Resources, And Sharing

bodies. And I know that you have a place that people can go to just to a quiz. I'd love for you to tell me a little more about the quiz. And I'll make I'll make sure I think I have the right link. It's yourhealthwithbeth.com, which is your website backslash quiz. So that'll be in the show notes for people who would like to go. So yeah, tell us a little bit more about the quiz.

SPEAKER_00

Well, the quiz is titled, What is your body telling you? And it's going, it's very quick. It takes about one or two minutes. It's 10 multiple choice questions, and it will give you my insights into what you should focus on first. Okay. And then there will be some free practices, some things that don't cost anything that you can do, that things that you can incorporate into your life and start getting on the path to healing, the system that needs you to focus on it first. And there'll be a few emails that come with more details. And you can always reach out to book a call with me if you have more questions. But really, everyone should know these practices. These are basic things to support your body. And I'm happy to share that with your listeners.

Carol Clegg

That's wonderful. So I'll make sure and do connect with Beth and take her up on this opportunity just to explore and get curious because we have these beautiful bodies that journey with us through life. And if we can make the journey a little more comfortable, a little more joyful, a little so many things that what a beautiful opportunity. So, Beth, thank you. I want to make sure people can find you. So I have your website and then I have your LinkedIn profile, you have a YouTube channel and on Instagram. So I'll make sure all of those links are there for people to connect with you. So thank you. Thank you, Carol. I loved it. Lovely. So thanks to those who listened to us chatting today about listening to our bodies and to the show. Connect Inspire Grad. So if this conversation has sparked an interest in something that you feel you need to just dig a little deeper in, I would love you to make contact with Beth. And if you can think of somebody else who might just need to listen to this conversation, I invite you to share this episode with them. And so until the next time, may your life be filled with ease and flow.
